The Grand Bazaar is one of the largest and oldest covered markets in the world with 61 covered streets and over 4000 shops.
The Spice Bazaar or Egyptian Bazaar is the second largest covered shopping area after the Grand Bazaar. It was built a little over two hundreds after the Grand Bazaar and completed in 1660. It is the center of the spice trade in Istanbul.
Surrounding both are even more shops, restaurants, and vendors. Additionally, when retail shops close for the day, vendors of all sorts of products set up tables and blankets on the adjacent sidewalks and streets.
