Bosque del Apache: First Morning
I have wanted to visit the Bosque del Apache NWR in New Mexico for years. I finally had my opportunity this past week-end as several members of our local camera club and I signed-up for a Wild Nature photography workshop held when tens of thousands of Snow Geese, Sandhill Cranes and ducks winter at the refuge.
We survived really early morning departures (5:15am), a dust storm, a blizzard, rain, snow storms, record-setting cold, and a few moments of sun and relative warmth. We were scheduled for seven outings and settled for five. There were always photo opportunities. The first morning was dark, cold and devoid of a blast-off. Fortunately, we had good light later at the feeding fields.
