Spain - Barcelona, Catalunya
Barcelona is a feast for the senses. One of our great pleasures is wandering
around the city looking for suprises. In this section I have included some of the
remarkable roof tops, ceilings, columns, and stained glass you can see if you
look up as you walk around this amazing city.

In the previoussection we focused on things you can see
while looking up. In this section we will focus on some of
the more fascinating and famous architecture of the city.
Many people are unaware that Casa Batlló is the result of a radical remodeling by Gaudi of an existing structure built in the year 1877. The
transformation took place in the years 1905–1907. Much of the façade is decorated with a mosaic of broken ceramic tiles (trencadís) that starts in
shades of golden orange moving into greenish blues. The roof is arched and has been likened to the back of a dragon or dinosaur.
Casa Milà, better known as La Pedrera (Catalan for 'The Quarry'), is also
by Gaudí and was built in the years 1906–1910 (officially completed 1912).

Barcelona has a rich and varied street life, ranging from musicians in the Gothic Quarter (Barrio Gotico) to families enjoying a sunny plaza. You never know what you'll come upon!
