Cape Sugarbird with Protea, Helderberg Nature Reserve
Sunbirds, which occupy the niche of New World hummingbirds, were
frequent visitors to proteas and ericas at various reserves and gardens.
At the Helderberg Nature Reserve we were treated to dozens
of male Sugarbird squadrons with their tails streaming behind
them.
